HELPFUL INFO
PLEASE CAN WE POLITELY REMIND ALL PARENTS THAT WE CANNOT ACCOMMODATE SHOW DATE CHANGES AS WE HAVE TO STICK TO LIMITED NUMBERS BACKSTAGE - THANK YOU
WHAT IS A SHOW FEE?
This is the fee to take part in the show. It goes towards costumes and rehearsals. You are not required to purchase any costumes (with the exception of socks and tights etc) to participate in the show.
You pay a show fee for each show number you are participating in. Eg Peter Pan ballet and Musical Theatre = 2 x show fee
WHAT IS A SHOW NUMBER?
A show number is the piece you have been learning in class and will be included in the running order of the show.
What is a dress rehearsal?
This is when the performers can rehearse their show piece in costume.
What is a technical rehearsal?
This is when the sound and lighting get a chance to make the show look fantastic! It is for the technical team to rehearse.
Costumes and Show Fees
We always try our hardest to keep the cost of the show to a minimum, as we want all the performers to have access to the wonderful experience of performing on stage.
For the main show there will be a £20 show fee per class to cover the cost of all rehearsals and costumes, enabling us to hire or make them for the show - eg If you take Primary Ballet and Musical Theatre1 classes = £40 show fee.
YOU MAY NOT KEEP ANY OF THE COSTUMES AND MAY BE REQUIRED TO PROVIDE SOCKS, TIGHTS AND SOME FOOTWEAR
Street Crews, Jazz Companies, MTC and Adult classes will be required to provide their own appropriate underwear to suit the costumes.
We plan the costumes based on you having the ALL the correct uniform and footwear for the class(es) your child participates in so you may need to purchase additional items if your child does not have the correct dance wear.
You MUST ensure your child has the CORRECT FOOTWEAR for class.
In cases of hardship please contact Miss Cathie to discuss your options.
Hair and Make up
All performers will be expected to have immaculate hair for the show and details of styles will be confirmed when costumes are finalised.
Ideally all performers will need to wear stage make up as the stage lighting washes out your features and is part of the whole experience. If your child does not wish to wear it please let us know.
PLEASE NOTE FALSE EYELASHES ARE OPTIONAL
THIS IS OUR FIRST SHOW - WHAT SHOULD WE EXPECT?
We have all our Under 6 year olds in just ONE number in ONE show and this year it is the LION KING!
We want their first experience on stage to be amazing! So we give all our little ones a costume to wear to the theatre and they get dropped off just before curtain up. They get to hang out backstage with our chaperones and teachers before going onstage to perform! You will pop front of house and take your seat and feel like the proudest parent in the world! Once they finish dancing they go backstage and get changed and have a snack and then get ready for you to collect them at the interval.
If your child is older and it is their first show we split the cast into GREEN and BLUE teams so they do 3 out of 6 shows. Often the primary school age children are only in ACT 1 so they go at the interval.
Some performers are in multiple numbers so they do all 6 shows and stay for the whole show.
We take good care of them and all the children are under licence from the council so they can perform in the show so all the chaperones are trained to look after them plus they are often experienced BKD parents too!
Chaperones
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
We will need help with rehearsals and the shows so it would be good to know your availability.
We are required by law to have licensed chaperones backstage to look after your children and we need parents to volunteer to train as chaperones with Surrey County Council. If you already hold a SCC Chaperone license and can help out please do let us know ASAP.
To apply to be a chaperone HERE
NO PARENTS WILL BE ABLE TO HELP BACKSTAGE UNLESS THEY ARE DBS CHECKED OR A LICENSED CHAPERONE. Please do let us know ASAP if you are already a registered chaperone or are willing to train to be one so we can make a rota for the shows and rehearsals. Thanks in advance!
DIGITAL Recording and photography
All Photography and Video is STRICTLY PROHIBITED during the shows.
Digital recordings of the show will be available to buy after the show. Professional photos will be taken at each show and will be available to buy after the show.
